Welcome to Kinlochard

Kinlochard is a village at the western end of Loch Ard in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Lying within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, approximately 4 miles to the west of Aberfoyle, it has often been used in the past as a location for film and television sets. It enjoys uninterrupted

views of the loch and the surrounding hills.  The village contains 59 households with a further 17 scattered across the surrounding area which extends from Glassert corner in the east to Frenich in the west.  In total there are around 300 residents ranging in age from babies to octogenarians. The community has seen a great many changes and has become more heterogeneous over the last few years.  There is now a reduced reliance on work within the local forests and a far wider range of occupations represented, with more residents commuting to work elsewhere.

The village hall is used for dances/ceilidhs, quiz nights and even wedding receptions. It is also well used by local groups and organisations, for example by Lochside Yoga, the Local History Group, the Community Council and the local curling and sailing clubs.  In addition, the village hall is also the focus for the annual Kinlochard gala day and mini Highland Games.

Kinlochard is a popular destination for visitors, with many staying at the Forest Hills Hotel and Resort or the Altskeith Country House.  The Wee Blether Tearoom provides delicious food and refreshments with gluten free baking and locally sourced ingredients.
