Potholes

Major repairs to the B829, cutting back the trees and resurfacing sections of the road have made the journey to Kinlochard an even more pleasant and much safer one. However, some potholes still exist and with a very cold winter forecast, potholes will continue to be a problem.  If you identify a pothole, measure it and send an email to info@stirling.gov.uk identifying how deep it is and where it is.  If you can, take a photograph of it and attach it to your email.

Stirling Council claim that the time periods between identification and repair of potholes is as follows:
Ÿ
for potholes greater than 100mm deep, 24 hours
Ÿ
for potholes 50-100mm deep, 5 days
Ÿ
for potholes 20-50mm deep, 28 days.

In the dark and in the wet, potholes can be very difficult to see.  They not only damage vehicles,  they are particularly dangerous for cyclists and motor cyclists.

If your vehicle is damaged by a pothole, collect evidence as soon as soon as possible after you hit it. Take photographs and measurements, draw a diagram of the location of the pothole and its position on the road.  Report the pothole by going to http://www.potholes.co.uk/users/login.

Get replacement costs for all damage caused by the pothole. If you incur additional costs, keep a note of them but you might not get it all back and overstated claims will negatively impact your case.

Make a claim by contacting Stirling Council.  Their contact details are:

Stirling Council,
Viewforth,
Stirling
FK8 2ET
Tel: 0845 277 7000
When contacting the council, bear in mind that anything you say can be used in court. Stay calm, be clear and be factual. Don’t lose your temper. Do not be angry or put off if they initially reject your claim. This is an automatic response. Stirling Council are obliged to maintain it in safe order.  Your compensation claim may take a while to be processed.
You might not be able to claim for all costs. For example, if you hit a pothole and damage an alloy wheel you can only claim for the replacement of that one wheel and tyre.
