Advice and Guidance for Parking in Kinlochard

Kinlochard can get very busy with visitors in good weather, particularly so during the school holidays and/or if there is an event on in Kinlochard Village Hall. The small carpark belonging to the village hall is only open when the hall is in use and it is for the users of the hall only.

There is a parking layby, opposite Ledard Farm on the B829. This is popular with hillwalkers, as it is an access point for ascending Ben Venue.

There is a Forestry Carpark with 8 - 10 spaces, in the village of Kinlochard itself, at the end of the tarmac road. This gives good access to the forest tracks, which are great for walkers and cyclists. It is a 5/10 minute walk back from there to the village hall and the lochside community field.

The location for this car park is

There is very limited off-road parking near the village hall and the lochside, either in the village or along the B829.

If you decide to park on the roadside, PLEASE:

  • Park with the utmost care and consideration for your own safety and of other road users, cyclists and pedestrians. Both the B829 and Lochard Cottages Road are busier than you might think.

  • Leave enough space along the road in the village, as impromptu passing places allow for the free flow of traffic in both directions.

  • Make sure you are not compromising safe and routine access for local residents, commercial/delivery vans and of course, for Emergency Vehicles.

  • Remember that the dedicated passing places are not convenient parking places! They are there to allow vehicles to pass and continue their journey safely.

  • You are advised not to do 3-point turns in the road by the village hall and you are politely asked not to use private drives or gateways for turning.

  • Remember that what looks like an unkempt, grassy verge is home to wildlife, flora and fauna. It is quite common for adders and grass snakes to live in these areas, particularly in warmer weather, so do take care.

  • If there is no more space to park in and around Kinlochard, please consider moving on and exploring another part of the Trossachs.

Thank you
